Gosainkunda – The Sacred Lake of Lord Shiva
Perched at an altitude of about 4,380 meters in Nepal’s Langtang National Park, Gosainkunda is a breathtaking alpine lake revered as a sacred site by both Hindus and Buddhists. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Shiva created this lake by striking his trident into the mountain to quench his thirst after swallowing poison during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan).
Every year, thousands of pilgrims and trekkers journey to Gosainkunda, especially during the Janai Purnima festival, to take a holy dip in its icy waters, believed to wash away sins and purify the soul. Surrounded by dramatic landscapes, snow-capped peaks, and spiritual silence, Gosainkunda offers not just scenic beauty but also a deeply spiritual experience.
Whether you're seeking divine connection or Himalayan adventure, Gosainkunda is a destination that inspires the soul and captivates the heart.
