Detailed itinerary

Begin your journey with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. The flight offers stunning aerial views of the Himalayas and provides a first glimpse of Tibet's breathtaking landscapes. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for rest and acclimatization to the altitude.

Spend the next two days exploring the cultural and historical wonders of Lhasa, Tibet's spiritual and administrative capital. Visit the iconic Potala Palace, once the residence of the Dalai Lama, and Jokhang Temple, one of the most sacred temples in Tibetan Buddhism. Explore Barkhor Street, a bustling market where pilgrims and locals alike converge. Lhasa is also home to several important monasteries, such as Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery, which provide deep insights into Tibetan Buddhism and monastic life.

After breakfast, you will begin your journey to Ganden Monastery, one of the most revered monasteries in Tibet and the birthplace of the Gelugpa school of Tibetan Buddhism. Located at an altitude of 13,940 feet, Ganden offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and the majestic snow-capped peaks. Spend the evening exploring the monastery and its surroundings, preparing for the trek ahead.

The trek from Ganden to Samye is the highlight of this journey. Over the course of four days, you will cross high mountain passes, walk through lush alpine meadows, and encounter remote Tibetan villages.

  • Day 05: Begin your trek from Ganden, making your way toward the first pass. The route gradually ascends as you pass through alpine meadows and encounter stunning views of the mountains and valleys.

  • Day 06: Continue your trek towards Shogu La, the highest pass at 17,220 feet. This day presents a challenge as you ascend through rocky terrain and snow-capped mountains, but the views from the top are well worth the effort. Descend to the valley below, where you will camp for the night.

  • Day 07: As you continue your trek, you will walk through remote valleys, often inhabited by Tibetan nomads. The landscape gradually changes as you approach the barren, desert-like environment surrounding Samye Monastery. The trek through this area provides a unique contrast to the lush landscapes you passed earlier.

  • Day 08: Reach Samye Monastery, one of Tibet's oldest and most significant monasteries. The monastery's architectural grandeur and spiritual significance make it an awe-inspiring destination. Take time to explore the monastery and its surroundings before settling in for the night.

After a fulfilling trek, you will drive to Tsetang, a town located near the Yarlung River. Tsetang is home to several important historical and cultural sites, including Yumbulagang Palace, one of Tibet's oldest palaces, and the Tsetang Monastery. The day is spent exploring these sites and soaking in the rich history of the region.

After a memorable journey through Tibet, it's time to head back to Lhasa for your flight home. You will be transferred to the airport for your departure, taking with you unforgettable memories of the Ganden to Samye Trek and the spiritual and natural wonders of Tibet.
