Combining breathtaking mountain scenery, ancient monasteries, and cultural experiences, this trek is a must for adventurers seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience near Everest. With every step, trekkers are rewarded with magnificent landscapes and a deep sense of connection to this remote and untouched region.
Upon arrival in Lhasa, you will be greeted by our guide and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for rest and acclimatization. Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, is a city steeped in history and spirituality, home to some of the most revered Buddhist sites in the world.
Spend two full days exploring Lhasa’s significant cultural and religious landmarks:
- Potala Palace – The iconic former winter residence of the Dalai Lama, offering a fascinating insight into Tibetan history and Buddhism.
- Jokhang Temple – The most sacred temple in Tibet, attracting pilgrims from across the region.
- Barkhor Street – A bustling market area where you can experience Tibetan traditions and buy local handicrafts.
- Sera & Drepung Monasteries – Two of Tibet’s largest monasteries, known for their scholarly significance and traditional Buddhist debates.
Embark on a scenic drive across the Kamba La Pass (4,794m / 15,725ft) and Karo La Pass (5,010m / 16,437ft), offering mesmerizing views of Yamdrok Tso Lake and the towering glaciers. Arrive in Gyantse and visit the Gyantse Kumbum Stupa and Pelkor Chode Monastery.
A short drive brings us to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the historic seat of the Panchen Lama, renowned for its grand halls and golden-roofed stupas.
On the way to Xegar, take a detour to Sakya Monastery, a significant religious and historical site. In Xegar, visit the ancient fortress Dzong, which offers panoramic views of the Tibetan plateau.
Journey towards the secluded Kharta Valley, passing through dramatic landscapes of high-altitude plateaus and rugged mountain passes. Final preparations for the trek take place in Kharta.
The trek begins following the Kharta River, crossing farmlands and small settlements. The trail ascends towards Shao La Pass (4,970m / 16,300ft) before reaching the village of Lundrubling, where we camp for the night.
The trail winds through lush meadows, offering views of snow-capped peaks. The day involves moderate trekking through varied landscapes leading to Kaamo Tsangpo Valley.
Enter the stunning Khangshung Valley, surrounded by towering cliffs and glaciers. This remote valley is home to rare flora and fauna, making it a haven for nature lovers.
Today’s trek takes us to Pethang Ringmo, a breathtaking campsite with magnificent views of Mount Everest's Kangshung Face, Makalu, and Lhotse.
A challenging but rewarding trek leads to Hoppo, another spectacular campsite offering close-up views of Everest’s eastern face.
A highlight of the trek, today’s excursion takes us to Kangshung Face Base Camp, providing an up-close view of Everest's hidden eastern face, surrounded by dramatic ice formations and towering cliffs.
The journey continues over the Langma La Pass, the highest point of the trek. Descend into scenic alpine meadows before reaching Lundrubling.
Complete the final leg of the trek, returning to Kharta Valley where our vehicles await for the return journey.
Drive towards Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world. Enjoy awe-inspiring views of Everest’s North Face.
A short hike or drive takes us to Everest Base Camp (Tibet side), where we soak in the surreal beauty of the world’s tallest peak.
Descend towards the Tibet-Nepal border, experiencing dramatic shifts in terrain from high-altitude landscapes to lush valleys.
Cross into Nepal at Zhangmu and continue the scenic drive to Kathmandu, concluding this epic adventure.
