More Information
Mount Everest, towering at 29,028 feet (8,848 meters), holds the title as the highest peak in the world. For climbers, reaching its summit is the ultimate achievement, an experience that marks them as some of the most daring and accomplished adventurers on the planet. The legendary Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa were the first to conquer Everest on May 29, 1953, after years of relentless effort.
The Everest Base Camp, located on the northern edge of the Khumbu Glacier at 18,000 feet, serves as the staging ground for climbers from around the world. It’s here that mountaineers gather at the beginning and end of their expedition. Typically, the entire expedition takes about 90 days, with climbers buzzing with anticipation as they prepare for their journey to the summit.
Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be greeted at the airport and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, you can relax and enjoy a welcome dinner in the evening, where you will meet your expedition team and fellow climbers. This will be an excellent opportunity to discuss the upcoming journey.
Spend the day exploring the rich cultural heritage of Kathmandu Valley. You will visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Patan Durbar Square. This tour allows you to immerse yourself in Nepalese culture and history while adjusting to the altitude.
On this day, you will attend a mandatory briefing session at the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Tourism Industry Division. This briefing covers important details about the expedition, safety protocols, and other essential information. Afterward, you’ll have some free time to prepare your gear for the trek.
In the morning, you’ll take a scenic 35-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small town located at 2,800 meters (9,186 feet). From Lukla, you’ll begin your trek towards Phakding, a charming village at 2,640 meters (8,661 feet). The trek takes about 4 hours, and you will pass through lush forests and cross rivers via suspension bridges. Upon reaching Phakding, you’ll settle into a lodge for the night.
Today’s trek will take you to the famous Namche Bazaar, a bustling town at 3,440 meters (11,286 feet). The 6-hour hike provides stunning views of snow-capped peaks and takes you through picturesque villages. You will cross several suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River and ascend through pine forests. As you approach Namche, the landscape becomes even more awe-inspiring. Namche Bazaar is the main trading hub of the Khumbu region and a great place to acclimatize.
To help your body adjust to the increasing altitude, you will take a rest day in Namche Bazaar. This day is dedicated to acclimatization. You can explore the surrounding areas, including a visit to the Everest View Hotel, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. You may also visit the local markets and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Namche.
Today’s trek will take you to Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, situated at 3,867 meters (12,687 feet). The 6-hour hike offers magnificent views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. You will trek through alpine meadows and forests, crossing the Dudh Koshi River and ascending through rhododendron forests. The Monastery is a peaceful place, and you may be lucky to witness a Buddhist prayer ceremony.
From Tengboche, you will trek to Pheriche, a village located at 4,243 meters (13,921 feet), in about 6 hours. The trail gradually ascends and offers awe-inspiring views of the surrounding peaks. As you climb higher, the landscape becomes more barren and windswept. Pheriche is a small settlement, and its quiet ambiance makes it an ideal place to rest and further acclimatize.
Today, you will trek to Lobuche, situated at 4,930 meters (16,175 feet), which takes about 6 hours. The path to Lobuche takes you through a series of challenging ascents and rocky terrain. As you make your way, the vastness of the Khumbu Glacier and the towering peaks surrounding you create a sense of awe. You will reach Lobuche in the afternoon and spend the night in a lodge to rest before continuing your journey.
After a 6-hour trek, you will finally reach Everest Base Camp at 5,500 meters (18,045 feet). This is the pinnacle of your journey—standing at the base of the world’s highest peak. The trek from Lobuche to Base Camp takes you through a rocky and glacial terrain, passing by the famous Khumbu Icefall. When you arrive at Base Camp, you will experience the excitement and anticipation of all the mountaineers preparing for their summit attempt.
During this period, you will be acclimatizing, preparing, and making multiple summit attempts, depending on weather conditions. This phase includes several rotations to higher camps, such as Camp I, Camp II, and Camp III, to acclimate and prepare for the final push to the summit. The climb is physically demanding, and climbers must be prepared for extreme weather and altitude challenges. Your experienced guides and Sherpas will provide support throughout the process.
Once the climbing period is completed and the summit has been successfully reached (or attempted), you will begin the process of cleaning up Base Camp. This includes packing up all equipment, ensuring that the area is left pristine, and preparing for the return trek.
After packing up Base Camp, you will trek back down to Pheriche. The descent is less strenuous, but still requires attention to terrain and altitude. You will pass through Lobuche again before reaching Pheriche, where you can rest and recover.
From Pheriche, you will descend back to Namche Bazaar, following the same route but in reverse. The trek takes around 6 hours, and you will enjoy a gradual descent through beautiful landscapes. Once you arrive in Namche, you will have time to relax and enjoy the village once more.

This day involves a debriefing session at the Ministry of Tourism, where you’ll review the expedition and provide feedback. This is also an opportunity to discuss your experience and reflect on the accomplishments of the journey.
