Pumori, standing at 7,161 meters (23,495 feet), is a striking pyramid-shaped peak in Nepal’s Khumbu region. Towering behind Kala Patthar (5,643m), it dominates the skyline and is instantly recognizable to anyone who has trekked to Everest Base Camp. The name "Pumori," meaning "Unmarried Daughter" in the Sherpa language, was given by legendary mountaineer George Leigh Mallory.

Previously used as a training peak for Everest expeditions, Pumori has now become a sought-after challenge for experienced climbers. Each climbing season, nearly 20 expeditions attempt its demanding ascent. The standard route follows the Southeast Buttress before transitioning to the East Ridge, offering climbers a thrilling mix of technical difficulty, exposed ridges, and breathtaking views of Everest and Lhotse.

Due to its steep sections, crevasses, and avalanche risks, Pumori is considered a serious mountaineering challenge. Only highly skilled alpinists with prior high-altitude experience should attempt this demanding peak in the heart of the Himalayas.
