Your adventure begins with a flight from Kathmandu, Chengdu, or Beijing to Lhasa, Tibet’s spiritual and cultural capital. From there, you'll explore the key attractions of Lhasa, Shigatse, and Gyantse, before taking an exhilarating overland journey across the Tibetan Plateau in 4WD jeeps, driving through high passes, remote monasteries, and scenic landscapes. The highlight of the tour is a visit to the Everest Base Camp, where you'll witness the breathtaking views of the North Face of Mount Everest. Conclude your journey with a scenic drive back along the Friendship Highway to Kathmandu or, for some travelers, a return to Lhasa for onward travel.
Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal's vibrant capital. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you'll receive a briefing about your upcoming itinerary. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or explore the local surroundings.
Enjoy a full-day guided tour of Kathmandu, showcasing the city's cultural and architectural wonders. Visit Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), one of the most iconic landmarks of Kathmandu offering panoramic views of the city. Proceed to Patan Durbar Square, home to historical temples and palaces that reflect Nepalese architecture and culture. This day will provide a deep insight into Kathmandu’s heritage.
After breakfast, take a scenic flight to Lhasa, Tibet, where you will be greeted by the local Tibetan guide. Following your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in Lhasa. The remainder of the day is reserved for rest and acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust to the high altitude of Lhasa.
Today, embark on a guided tour of Lhasa’s key cultural landmarks. Begin with a visit to the Potala Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama, perched atop a hill with stunning views of the city. In the afternoon, head to Drepung Monastery, one of the largest and most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, offering a deep spiritual experience.
Your second day in Lhasa includes a visit to the Jokhang Temple, one of the holiest sites in Tibetan Buddhism. It is renowned for its spiritual significance and intricate Tibetan architecture. After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive from Lhasa to Gyantse, passing by the crystal-clear waters of Yamdrok Tso Lake. This picturesque drive offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Upon reaching Gyantse, visit the Kumbum Stupa and the Pelkor Chode Monastery, which houses an impressive collection of murals, sculptures, and Tibetan religious art.
Drive from Gyantse to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet. En route, visit the Shalu Monastery, known for its exquisite architecture and rich history. Embark on a spectacular drive from Shegar to Rongbuk, the highest monastery in the world, located at an altitude of 5,000 meters. Today, take a short hike from Rongbuk Monastery to Everest Base Camp, where you can stand at the foot of the world’s highest peak. After spending time at Base Camp, drive to Tingri, a small town that offers a picturesque view of the Himalayas.
Drive from Tingri to Zhangmu, a town located on the Tibetan-Nepalese border. The journey offers spectacular views of the Himalayas as you descend from the Tibetan Plateau into the lush valleys of the border region. Zhangmu is known for its vibrant Tibetan-Nepalese cultural fusion.
After breakfast, drive to Kathmandu via the Friendship Highway, which takes you through the stunning landscapes of Tibet and Nepal. Cross the border at Rasuwa and continue your journey to Kathmandu, where you'll be dropped off at your hotel for a restful evening.
