This 14-day bird-watching adventure begins in Kathmandu with a tour of historical sites, including the Pashupatinath Temple and Bhaktapur Durbar Square. After exploring Patan and the Godavari Botanical Garden, you'll embark on hikes and bird-watching trips in Phulchoki Hill and Nagarjun Forest. The journey continues to the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve, renowned for its bird diversity, followed by a drive to Chitwan National Park to witness its rich wildlife. A visit to Royal Bardia National Park offers more opportunities for birding, along with jungle safaris and treks in the Churia Hills. The trip concludes with a return to Kathmandu for a day of leisure before departure.
Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal's vibrant capital. Transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Explore the historical and cultural sites in Kathmandu Valley. Visit the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu sites; Bouddhanath Stupa, a significant Buddhist monument; Bhaktapur Durbar Square, showcasing medieval architecture; and Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the intricate wood, metal, and stone works throughout.
Drive to Patan to visit its Durbar Square, Krishna Temple, and the Golden Temple. Afterward, head to Godavari. Check in at your hotel, and after a refreshment, embark on a bird-watching trip in the Godavari Botanical Garden.
After breakfast, hike up Phulchoki Hill with a packed lunch for a full day of bird watching. Return to Kathmandu in the evening.
Explore the birdlife in Nagarjun Forest and the Shivapuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. Return to your hotel in Kathmandu by evening.
Drive to Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve in Eastern Nepal. This reserve, established in 1976, covers 175 sq. km and is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including endangered species like the Wild Buffalo. It boasts 423 bird species, with 183 species recorded daily, making it a prime bird-watching destination.
Enjoy a full day of birding, both on foot and by boat. Koshi Tappu is renowned for its diversity, with species like the Swamp Francolin, Red-necked Falcon, and Striated Marsh Warbler among many others.
Drive to Chitwan National Park, a renowned sanctuary for 450 bird species, including the one-horned rhinoceros, royal Bengal tiger, and a variety of wildlife. Along the way, there are opportunities to spot White-rumped Needletail Swifts and Ibis bills.
Experience full-day birding across various ecosystems in Chitwan National Park, from wetlands to grasslands and sal forests. Stay overnight at the lodge.
Drive to Royal Bardia National Park, the largest lowland sanctuary in Nepal, known for its rich wildlife, including tigers, rhinos, elephants, and more. It’s also home to endangered birds such as the Bengal Florican and Sarus Crane.
Enjoy jungle activities, including an elephant-back safari, nature walks, and bird-watching, with a trek in the Churia Hills to observe more birds.
Drive back to Kathmandu and overnight at your hotel.
Spend the day shopping, exploring local markets, or relaxing before your departure.
Transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
