Arrive in Bhutan via Druk Airbus 319 series, the national carrier. During the flight, you’ll be treated to stunning views of the Himalayan mountains and landscapes. Upon arrival, after completing visa formalities, you will be greeted by STT members and transferred to Kichu Resort. If time permits, enjoy a stroll around the local market or explore nearby sights.
Start the day by visiting the historical Drugyel Dzong, a ruined fortress that once protected the Paro Valley from Tibetan invasions in the 17th century. On clear days, view Mount Chomolhari towering over the dzong. Next, visit the Ta-Dzong (National Museum), housed in a former watchtower with seven floors showcasing Bhutanese culture and history. Walk downhill to Rinpung Dzong, a functioning monastery and administrative center. In the afternoon, drive to Thimphu (65 km, about 2 hours). Evening at leisure. Overnight stay at Hotel Druk or River View.
Visit Thimphu’s highlights, including the Memorial Chorten in honor of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the Changangkha Monastery, and the Drupthob Nunnery Temple. In the afternoon, drive back to Paro, with a stop at Simtokha Dzong, the first structure built in Bhutan and now home to a Buddhist university. Arrive in Paro, and enjoy a relaxing evening. Overnight stay at Kichu Resort.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your final departure, marking the end of your cultural exploration in Bhutan.
