The Machhapuchhre TAAN Model Trek is a newly introduced and less-explored trekking route that offers an authentic experience of Nepal’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and diverse landscapes. This trail was identified and developed by the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Western Regional Chapter, Pokhara, with the objective of promoting sustainable tourism in Pokhara and its surrounding areas.
This trek is ideal for those who wish to explore off-the-beaten paths with mesmerizing views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) mountain ranges, lush forests, and traditional villages. The route traverses through five major village development committees, allowing trekkers to experience the unique culture and lifestyle of the ethnic communities living in the region. One of the most exciting aspects of this trek is its flexibility—you can customize the trek’s duration based on your preferences and schedule.

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in, you can relax or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel. In the evening, there will be a briefing about the trek.
Today, embark on a guided sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, exploring UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. This day also allows you to make last-minute preparations for your trek.
A scenic drive along the Prithvi Highway takes you to Pokhara, Nepal’s adventure capital. Upon arrival, you can enjoy a relaxing evening by the tranquil Phewa Lake or explore Lakeside’s vibrant atmosphere.
After breakfast, we drive to Lachok, the starting point of our trek. From Lachok, we begin our trek towards Ribhan, passing through terraced fields and charming villages, offering glimpses of local life. The trail is moderate and takes about 4-5 hours.
Today’s trek involves a steady ascent towards Odane Hill, which offers magnificent panoramic views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre ranges. We continue to Chichimle Kharka, a serene spot amidst dense rhododendron forests. Overnight in Chichimle Kharka.
The trail today leads us through undulating paths and forests, eventually reaching Khumai, one of the best vantage points for a breathtaking close-up view of Machhapuchhre. The tranquility of this place is perfect for photography and relaxation.
After an early morning sunrise view, we trek towards Korchung and then descend to Kharka. This segment of the trek is known for its untouched beauty, showcasing a blend of high-altitude vegetation and incredible Himalayan vistas.
We continue our descent through lush forests and small settlements, eventually reaching Takra, a traditional Gurung village. Here, trekkers can interact with locals and experience their warm hospitality.
The trail today takes us through Imu and Kwiwan before stopping for the night at Lwanghalel, a picturesque village renowned for its organic tea gardens and traditional houses.
From Lwanghalel, we trek towards Mardi Pool, a beautiful location offering mesmerizing reflections of the mountains in the crystal-clear waters. This is a relatively easier day, allowing trekkers to soak in the beauty of their surroundings.
The final day of trekking takes us back to Pokhara, where you can celebrate the completion of your journey with a relaxing evening by the lake.
After breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu, retracing the scenic route along the Trishuli River. Upon arrival, you can explore the city at your leisure or shop for souvenirs.
Your adventure concludes today. Our representative will transfer you to the airport for your onward journey, carrying unforgettable memories of the Machhapuchhre TAAN Model Trek.
