Tharpu Chuli, commonly known as Tent Peak, is a striking trekking peak situated in the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary. Offering an exciting ascent and breathtaking panoramic views of the Annapurna Massif, this peak is a popular choice among climbers. The mountain can be summited via the South East Ridge, Southwest Ridge, and Northeast Ridge, with the Northeast Ridge being the standard and most commonly used route.

The peak was first referred to as "Tent Peak" by Jimmy Roberts in 1956 due to its distinctive tent-like shape. Compared to other trekking peaks in the region, such as Hiunchuli (6,441m) and Singu Chuli (6,501m), Tharpu Chuli (5,695m) is considered a more accessible climb, making it a great choice for those looking to experience Himalayan mountaineering without extreme technical challenges.

After check-in, you will receive a briefing about the trek and necessary preparations.

Explore the rich cultural heritage of Kathmandu Valley, visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. In the evening, a pre-trek briefing will be conducted, and last-minute gear checks will be made.

You can either take a scenic 6-7 hour drive or a 30-minute flight to Pokhara. Upon arrival, you will have time to explore the beautiful lakeside city, with stunning views of the Annapurna range.

After a short drive to Birethanti, the trek begins through picturesque villages and lush green forests. Passing through Hille, we reach Tikhedhunga, where we will spend the night.

The day starts with a steep ascent up the famous Ulleri staircase, a series of 3,000+ stone steps. As we gain altitude, the landscape changes from terraced fields to rhododendron forests before reaching Ghorepani, a beautiful village offering stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.

An early morning hike to Poon Hill rewards us with an awe-inspiring sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. After capturing the breathtaking views, we descend to Ghorepani for breakfast and continue trekking through dense forests towards Tadapani.

Today’s trek descends through lush forests before ascending to Chhomrong, a major Gurung village at the gateway to the Annapurna Sanctuary. Chhomrong offers an incredible view of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Peak) and Annapurna South.

The trail descends via stone steps to the Chhomrong River, followed by an ascent through Bamboo and Rhododendron forests before reaching Dovan. The surroundings become more serene as we approach higher altitudes.

We continue trekking through Himalayan bamboo and alpine forests, passing through Himalaya and Deurali before reaching Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC). The view of Machhapuchhre (6,993m) and surrounding peaks is spectacular from here.

A short but rewarding trek takes us to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), where we are surrounded by Annapurna I (8,091m), Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. This is the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary, offering breathtaking scenery.

A rest day at ABC allows us to acclimatize while enjoying glacier walks and photography. This day also serves as a backup in case of weather delays.

Leaving ABC, we trek towards Tharpu Chuli Base Camp, traversing glacial moraines with stunning views of Annapurna and Tent Peak.

A gradual ascent takes us to High Camp, where we prepare for the summit push. Final climbing gear checks and a pre-climb briefing will be conducted.

A pre-dawn ascent via the Northeast Ridge brings us to the summit, offering a 360-degree panorama of the Annapurna Range, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and Hiunchuli. After celebrating our success, we descend back to Base Camp.

We retrace our steps to MBC, descending through rocky trails and glacial landscapes.

A long but scenic trek takes us down to Dovan, passing through forests and alpine meadows.

Descending further, we reach Jhinu Danda, where we can relax in natural hot springs beside the Modi Khola River.

The trail leads through forests and terraced fields, reaching Pothana, a scenic ridge-top village.

A short downhill trek to Phedi, followed by a drive to Pokhara, where we celebrate the successful expedition.
