Mardi Himal Climbing is an excellent introduction to mountaineering in the high Himalayas, particularly for those with limited time. This expedition does not require prior experience at high altitudes, as the itinerary ensures gradual and thorough acclimatization. While Mardi Himal is one of the shorter and relatively easier climbing expeditions in Nepal, proper preparation and fitness are essential to maximize both enjoyment and success.

Located east of the Modi Khola and across the valley from Hiunchuli, Mardi Himal is separated from the Machhapuchhre ridge by a col at approximately 5,200m (17,060 ft). Despite its proximity to the Annapurna Sanctuary, this peak remains less visited. The route follows the Mardi Khola for two days before ascending the ridgeline over three days to reach the base camp at around 4,100m (13,451 ft). The climb offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and Manaslu.

Detailed itinerary

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. In the evening, a welcome dinner will be organized.

Spend the day obtaining necessary permits and preparing for the expedition. You will also explore UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and Kathmandu Durbar Square.

A scenic drive to Pokhara, Nepal’s adventure capital, offers stunning views of terraced landscapes, rivers, and snow-capped peaks. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening by Phewa Lake.

A short drive to Phedi marks the start of the trek. The trail ascends through rhododendron forests and charming villages before reaching Pothana, a small settlement with breathtaking mountain views.

The trek continues through dense forests, offering glimpses of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre. The route is peaceful and gradually ascends to Forest Camp, where we set up camp for the night.

As the trail ascends further, the forest thins, revealing panoramic views of the Himalayas. The trek to Bhaisi Kharka offers a blend of alpine meadows and rugged terrain.

Today, the trek reaches Mardi Himal Base Camp, located on a scenic ridge with awe-inspiring views of Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna range. The campsite provides an excellent location to acclimatize

A gradual climb leads to High Camp, positioned at an elevation of 4,500m. This is the final stop before summit day, and the afternoon is spent resting and preparing for the climb.

An early morning ascent begins with a steady climb over snow slopes. The summit of Mardi Himal provides breathtaking 360-degree views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Manaslu. After enjoying the accomplishment, descend back to Base Camp.

The descent retraces the route back to Forest Camp, offering a relaxed trek through alpine meadows and forests.

Descending further, the trek reaches Siding, a traditional Gurung village offering insight into local culture and lifestyle.

The trek gradually descends into lower altitudes, passing through terraced fields and small settlements before reaching Mardi Pul.

The final trekking day leads to Hyanja, from where a short drive returns us to Pokhara. The evening is free to relax and explore the city.

Either take a scenic drive back to Kathmandu or opt for a short 25-minute flight. Spend the rest of the day at leisure.

A free day in Kathmandu allows time for rest, shopping, or further sightseeing. In the evening, a farewell dinner is organized.
