The Royal Trek is one of the most captivating short treks in Nepal, offering a unique experience along the foothills of the Annapurna range, north of Pokhara. The trek is named after Prince Charles and his entourage, who explored this route in the early 1980s. It provides an ideal opportunity for travelers seeking an immersive cultural experience in the Himalayas, as it traverses traditional villages inhabited by diverse ethnic communities.

This trek is perfect for beginners or those with limited time, as it offers a glimpse of the breathtaking Himalayan landscapes without requiring extensive trekking experience. The journey takes you through picturesque Gurung villages, terraced rice fields, and serene hilltops, all while offering panoramic views of Annapurna, Machapuchhre (Fishtail), and Langtang mountain ranges. The trek concludes at the tranquil Begnas Lake, located about 30 km west of Pokhara, where you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings before heading back to the city.

Detailed itinerary

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, you can rest or explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, the heart of Kathmandu’s tourism scene. In the evening, we will conduct a trek briefing and welcome dinner.

Today, we embark on a guided tour of Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and the historic Kathmandu Durbar Square. This day provides deep insights into Nepal’s rich cultural and historical heritage. The evening is free for preparation and shopping for the trek.

We take a scenic drive along the Prithvi Highway, passing through picturesque hills, rivers, and traditional villages. Alternatively, a short domestic flight offers an aerial view of the Himalayan range. Upon arrival in Pokhara, we check into our hotel and explore the lakeside area, enjoying the stunning views of Phewa Lake and the Annapurna mountains.

After breakfast, we drive to Bijayapur Khola, the starting point of our trek. We begin our hike through paddy fields and cross a small river before ascending towards Kalikasthan, a beautiful hilltop village. Upon reaching, we enjoy panoramic views of Pokhara Valley and the surrounding mountains. Overnight stay at a teahouse.

Today’s trek takes us through lush rhododendron forests, small villages, and terraced fields. Along the way, we get to interact with the local Gurung and Magar communities, learning about their unique traditions. The trek offers stunning views of Annapurna and Lamjung Himal. We arrive at Syaklung, where we stay in a local teahouse.

We continue our trek through dense forests, enjoying the serenity of nature. As we ascend, the views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna peaks become even more mesmerizing. Chisopani is a beautiful hilltop offering breathtaking sunset and sunrise views over the Himalayas. We spend the night at a teahouse, experiencing the peaceful mountain atmosphere.

Our final day of trekking takes us through terraced farmlands and forests, eventually descending to the serene Begnas Lake. Here, we take some time to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings before driving back to Pokhara. The evening is free to explore the vibrant lakeside market and enjoy a celebratory dinner.

We return to Kathmandu via a scenic drive or a short flight. Upon arrival, you can enjoy some leisure time, shop for souvenirs, or explore more of the city. In the evening, we host a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of the trek.

After breakfast, our representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. We hope you leave with unforgettable memories of Nepal and the Royal Trek experience.
